Charles R. Wood

Charles and Dorothy

The late Charles R. Wood established himself over the years as an expert on the subject of railroading in the Pacific Northwest. He was an ardent follower of railroading, as a hobbyist collector and photographer, and was active as a member and past officer of the Great Northern Railway Historical Society for some years.

Mr. Wood wrote on a variety of subjects since the early 1950s and was long a student of Western history. Charles and his wife, Dorothy (pictured at left), raised seven sons and worked together quite successfully as a writing team for many years.

Other titles to Charles' credit include Northern Pacific and, with Dorothy, Spokane Portland and Seattle Railway, Milwaukee Road West, and The Great Northern Railway.
